Here’s how to break free.

Many years ago, I read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I don’t know if you’ve read it. It’s about a young shepherd who, inspired by a recurring dream, sets out on a journey to find a hidden treasure near the pyramids of Egypt. But what he’s really searching for is what the author calls his “Personal Legend”, which is simply his purpose in life.

I’ve always believed that we’re all here to fulfill our own personal legend, our dreams and goals. The things we ask life to give us.

When it comes to our health, we’re not far from seeking the same. We ask for good health. We ask for healing. We ask for recovery. But the real question should be, are we actually searching for it? What do we do to find it? How do we take that journey?

One line from the book says: “We’re only afraid of losing what we have. But this fear disappears once we realize our story and the world’s story were written by the same hand.” That sentence describes so much about how we see, redefine, and pursue health.

Fear gets talked about a lot. It’s everywhere in your life. It moves with you. It whispers what you can and cannot do. It disguises itself as a teacher, a mentor, or a guide. But the problem with fear is that it paralyzes you. It makes you overthink. It pushes you to calculate every outcome like a math problem. It sparks anxiety, anger, despair, loneliness…

When I was little, my father spoke to me often about fear. What has always stayed with me is that I don’t need to be afraid of fear. Fear is a companion, but it should never be the one in control. It should never be the one making decisions for me, or for you.

Fear also hides in your health. It’s the voice that says, “Don’t run; you might fall”. “Don’t lift weights; you might get hurt”. “Stick to what you eat now; changing might upset you”.
It even tells you, “Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today”; even if today is already overloaded and there’s no space for more.

Fear floods your head with doubt. But when you understand your story — and that your past doesn’t define who you are today — your world fills with possibilities, not probabilities.
Possibility is the capacity or potential for something to happen. Unlike probability, it doesn’t depend on math or frequency. It depends on action. And fear often controls that action.

Maybe you’re always asking yourself why you can’t lose weight, why you can’t stick to a gym routine, why you can’t sleep well, why it’s so hard to make changes in your health — even when you know they’d be good for you. If you doubt whether it will work, or whether you’ll see results, fear is already there.

No one knows what your future holds. What you do know is what’s happening right now. And yes, you also know what hasn’t worked in the past. But as I’ve said, your past doesn’t define you. It doesn’t define your present, and it doesn’t define what’s possible for your future.

So the questions should be: What’s stopping me from taking action? Because underneath it all, you’ll usually find fear. Then, ask yourself what can I do today to improve my health today? To move. To not collapse. To take one step forward.

That’s what holistic health is about.. Asking the right questions so you can take action, even with fear. Creating spaces and strategies where you can build capacity and potential, so you can create the healthy life you want. Reconnecting and feeding your body and mind to break cycles of stress. Because fear hides there too — in those stress cycles.

When you anchor yourself in possibility, fear stops paralyzing you. That’s what sets you on your journey to find your hidden treasures. That’s what allows you to create consistent change in your health.

To your rhythm and health,

Many years ago, I read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
